A chimpanzee stuffed animal is a wonderful plush companion for children of all ages. After all, they have soft, plush fur along with charming faces which you can’t help but fall instantly in love with.

Children can have a much easier time relating to chimps than most other animals given they share close to 98% of our DNA and act in much the same way as humans do, especially the young. A child would be most pleased to learn that chimps laugh when they play. They also kiss, tickle, embrace, and pat each other on the back. It should come as no surprise that after a trip to the zoo or animal sanctuary, you will be asked for a chimpanzee stuffed animal so the experience of seeing an animal that was so human-like can last just a little bit longer even if it is only via imagination.

It is estimated that somewhere between 172,000 and 300,000 chimpanzees remain in the wild. They are considered an endangered species and are having a difficult time keeping their species alive due to the ongoing cutting of their rain forest homes. Wild chimpanzees live in about 21 African countries with many of them located in central Africa. Most of them make their homes in African rainforests which sit on what was once the equatorial forest belt. With only patches of these forests still standing, chimps are slowly losing their habitats. In addition, they are still illegally hunted for their meat which is sold commercially. It would be a shame to think that what could one day remain of these amazing creatures, are simply chimpanzee stuffed animals made to look like the once great apes.

In the great ape family, there are a total of four types of species chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans. In the biological sense, chimpanzees are more closely related to humans than they are to gorillas. It was once thought that it was only humans that made tools, but it turns out that chimps do too so they can easily get at some of their favorite foods. By shaping sticks, in just the right way, they are able to use them to get insects out of their nests or dig grubs from out of logs. They also use stones to smash open nuts.

There is always the risk that by having a chimpanzee stuffed animal, it may bring on the urge to have the actual animal as a pet. After all, infants in particular, with their sweet faces and seemingly helpless nature, are very hard to resist. Better to stick to chimpanzee plush toys, however, as chimps don’t make good household pets. In captivity, they can live more than 60 years thus need a full commitment throughout their lives. In addition to feeding it, caring for it, etc., that cute baby will eventually grow up and become the wild animal that it always was. Like all wild animals, they are unpredictable and can become aggressive, even toward someone that has cared for it all its life a wild animal is always a wild animal. Chimpanzee stuffed animals will remain babies forever and will never turn on you just like the tried and true teddy bear, chimpanzee stuffed animals are your friend for life.
